Capturing Love in Love, Saskatchewan

While I presently have no aspirations to dive into wedding photography, when my wife's cousin Kari asked me to photograph their small, low key wedding at their parents' homestead in the appropriately named village of Love, Saskatchewan, I was too honoured to say no. I've known Kari for almost as long as I've known my wife (going on 16 years!), and she's among the most fun-loving people I've ever met, so the event was all but guaranteed to be a blast. Her new husband, Jared, is a super nice gentleman who, although not that keen on having his photo taken, was game for anything.

I wanted to be sure we captured both the family farm and the expansive fields indicative of Saskatchewan, and we had a blast seeking out photogenic spots. Here are a few images from the day:

The Shea Family at the Botanical Gardens of Silver Springs

Holy moley it's been a while since I updated this blog! So, I guess, Happy New Year!

With the economy such as it was in Alberta last year, I had lowered expectations as to how much work I'd be attracting; as it turned out, it was my busiest year since starting the business in a long while. I'm so thankful to the families, business owners, and individuals who chose to hire me last year. I was privileged to meet and work with a whole lot of really great people, some of whom have become friends beyond our work together.

I'm going to play a little catch-up over the next little bit, highlighting some shoots from 2015 that I haven't yet shared. To start off, here's the Shea family.

I met these folks after they won my session through a silent auction at WO Mitchell Elementary school, where my daughter attends. I adore this school and the staff that works there, and so I'm happy to donate a session every year to their auction.

The Sheas gathered at the Botanical Gardens of Silver Springs for their session, a scenic location I've worked at several times. The whole family was fantastically kind and made the shoot a breeze.

Here are a few images - mostly in black and white, as it turned out. No real reason other than that's what I was feeling:
